She also worked as an undergraduate research assistant at the Bowen Lab at Johns Hopkins University, where she helped to construct and design a high vacuum apparatus for studying groups of similar chemicals in the gas phase. Alane has written on topics in chemistry, physics, neuroscience, and psychology for ThoughtCo since 2017. Education Alane received her Ph.D. in materials science and engineering at Northwestern University. Previously, she was a Fulbright Research Scholar at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
